INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS

(on-line method - the Manuscript Submission System)

Note: before you submit your manuscript, please, prepare Word files separate for the text of the article, tables, and references. Submission of a manuscript consistsof 7 steps. The system will guide you precisely according displayed information.

NOTE:The Authorship-Statement-Form must be obligatory printed out, completed, and then sent directly to the Editor’s Office:

STEP 1 – title of paper

 

Please, use italics for Latin generic and specific names.

STEP 2 – authors

-

Enter full name and affiliation of author. Indicated field about author’s contribution in the preparation of the manuscript is obligatory. Note: The Authorship-Statement-Form must be obligatory printed out, completed, and then sent directly to the Editor’s Office.

-

Note that the fields "Department/Clinic" and "Faculty" are obligatory. If these fields can not be completed, simply type the abbreviation "N/A" (not applicable).

-

To add or remove another author, use the commands displayed on bottom of the page <add next author> or <remove author>.

-

enter full name of corresponding author and e-mail address.

STEP 3 – kind of paper, abstract and keywords

-

To indicate the kind of paper use the check-box. You can choose from the following categories: case report, original paper, review article, short note, chronicle, on the scientific life, and book review. Use of the check-box is obligatory.

-

Note: original articles require at least 200 words of an abstract. All abbreviations used must be explained. For review articles and short notes of more than 150 words is appropriate. Abstract of original paper must be structural (must necessarily include an introduction, materials and methods, results, and conclusions).

Enter keywords, but not more than six.

STEP 4 – figures/pictures

-

Note: the image file size cannot exceed 8MB;

-

You can use the button named <next> if you do not want to add a graphic file;

-

The <picture description> field is obligatory if graphic file was added;

-

To add or remove another picture, use the commands displayed on buttons: <add picture> or <remove picture>.

STEP 5 – text of paper

-

Select in PC your manuscript file prepared using the MS WORD and send it;

-

The layout of the paper should include the following separate sections: Introduction, Objectives, Materials and Methods, Results, Conclusions, Acknowledgements;

-

All the abbreviations should be explained in the article, when used for the first time. The results of biochemical estimations and units of measure should be given in SI system;

-

Conclusions cannot be a repetition of the results;

-

In the case of experiments carried out on humans or animals the information about the fact that they are performed according to the requirements of the Helsinki Declaration, and after permission of the Local Supervisory Committee on Experiments on Humans (the Ethical Committee) must be given in the description of the methods;

-

Obtained reproduction permissions should be acknowledged by the statement: „by consent of...".

-

All contributors who do not meet the criteria for authorship such as technical assistants, writing assistants, should be mentioned in the Acknowledgements.

STEP 6 – tables and references

 

Tables

-

Select in PC your table files prepared using the MS WORD and send them;

-

Note: Each table should be typed on a separate A4 paper page. The tables should be numbered with Arabic numerals. All abbreviations used in tables must be explained under the table. The head of table is separated from the contents by a line; the table is bounded by lines at the top and at the bottom and open at the sides;

 

References

Select in PC your references file prepared using the MS WORD and send it;

-

The references of articles coming from journals should include bibliographical descriptions: all names of authors along with the first names initials, year of publication, paper’s title, full journal title (italics), volume (annual) number, number of the page on which the article starts and ends, with punctuation according to the following example:
articles: [1] Schmidt-Rhaesa A. 1985. The life cycle of horsehair worms (Nematomorpha). Acta Parasitologica 46: 151-158.
book: [2] Yamaguti S. 1970. Digenetic trematodes of Hawaiian fishes. Keigaku Publishing cp., Tokyo.

STEP 7 – confirmation

-

You can view and correct your manuscript fragments;

-

Use the <Change> button, to correct selected parts of the manuscript;

-

Until the manuscript has been not accepted by the author, so long the manuscript can be corrected;

-

Use the button on bottom of the page (named <I accept this article - send>) to accept the manuscript and send it to the editor;

-

Upon acceptance by the author the manuscript cannot be corrected. However, author can still display the manuscript;

-

Each paper submitted to Annals of Parasitology is approved by two independent reviewers and at least one of the reviewers is affiliated with a foreign institution other than the author’s nationality. The review is conducted using the method of double-blind review process, in which neither the reviewer knows the identity of the authors and their affiliated units, nor the authors know the name of the evaluator.

The remarks of reviewers are subsequently forwarded to the author. At this moment author can correct the manuscript on-line. Once again, after acceptance by the author the manuscript cannot be corrected. However, author can still display the manuscript.

The names of reviewers of individual publications/issues are not disclosed; the journal shall publish a list of cooperating reviewers once per year.

GENERAL

 

The Editor reserves the right to alter and correct the manuscript considered for publication in a way that will not change its overall value. Proposition of substantial changes or considerable shortening will be consulted with the author.
